Tihany – The Mystical Peninsula of Lake Balaton
Tihany is the most iconic destination on Lake Balaton, a unique peninsula that juts deep into the lake, almost dividing it in two. The Benedictine Abbey, founded in 1055, where the first written record of the Hungarian language was created, still proudly watches over the peninsula.
The volcanic peninsula is a special natural treasure: the Inner Lake and Outer Lake, geyser cones, and lavender fields all make it unique. While sailing, you can admire both sides of the peninsula – an experience that cannot be replicated anywhere else on Lake Balaton.
